THE SITE LAYOUT

The site is approximately 43 acres and is generally triangular in shape, The elevation of the land rises from the base at around 80 feet (25m) above sea level up to the highest point of 510 feet (155 m) above sea level. the site allows for panoramic views to the East Harbour, Portland, Trident castle , and the Caribbean Sea.

Villa Guango

This Villa, with a material palette of glass, stone and timber, uses the juxtaposition of forms and the contrasting material elements to reflect the natural quality of the environment in context, The upper-deck, made of concrete, breaks away from the material palette as it purosefully emboldens itself as a cantilevered wing off the main stone base of the Villa. The timber cladding is of a sand-dashed finish, mimicking the traditional Jamaican house of the 19th Century. The multitiered nature of this Villa allows it to be used on a variety of locations within the Turtle Crawl Hill site, as the base may be extended or contracted in height to facillitate a relatively flat site or steep site

 Villa Mahoe

The Grand Nature of this Villa Is both emphasized and understated by the forms and material selection. Upon entry, a forested courtyard orients the visitor to an entertainment deck with infinity edge pool, from which all public arreas have access. The central focal points of the Villa enable it to become ideal for entertainment and fine living. While the soft nature of the timber clad walls on the upper level are sandwiched between the heavy quality of the concreteclad overhangs above and the packed stone base below. This material play on the eyes serves to reduce the visual scale of the Villa, making a grand space more livable. Vissually solid hip roofs, semi- solid trellis roofs and low hanging flat roofs with deep overhangs merge to create a hierarchy of spatial interaction in a modern sense, as well as reinforcing the classical notions of approach and promenade. The Entrance Courtyard is an open to sky green space, which sets up an axial relationship with the juxtaposition of the main entertainment deck and the living spaces. As the house caries classical influences of scale and symmetry, two stairwells on either side of the entrance court takes the visitor down to the bedroom level. These stairs also facilitate a shorter walk from either wing of the house to the point of vertical circulation. Four large bedrooms on the wings serve as Masters suites. They are identified by a private balcony off the main bedroom area, a protruding bay for a day- bed or lounge chair, and a high ceiling made possible by a 45 degree slope hip roof above.

Villa Sweetwood

This Villa is designed for sites with steep to severe slopes, it is conceptually ment to be an impostion on the site, much like a tee emerging from the forest floor. Following this concept, the Villa reflects the vertical nature of the trees in context as they climb upwards in the search for light in a densely forested landscape. Skylights at key locations on the roof allow light from above to filter all the way through to the lowerst floor. The form of the Villa represents a " nine- square" box of which planes have been subtraced to create a intermingling of space. The solidity of this form has been fragmented by the horizontal and vertical sun screens on its perimeter. The entire Villa floats above its stone base throught a series of flying buttresses, which connect to timber clad vertical stms, mimicking the trunks and branches of the trees in context.
